Bios

Rev. Roger Graham
Roger has been the senior pastor at FHBC since 1998, but first came to Forest Hills Baptist in 1983 as Minister of Youth & Training and with his wife, Roxanne and two sons, Joshua and Adam. He's committed to personal, church and community "spiritual formation" in Christ.

Roger says, "It is not always easy to know what to do with a thirst for God and to know how to live in communion and communication with Him. I have made loads of blunders. Yet, I am more and more convinced that God is active in my life and the lives of others in the church and the community. We just need to join with Him. I believe that we, the people of Saint John East, are learning to live the supernatural life of being passionate and faithful disciples of Jesus in a kind of natural and normal way. I am looking for lots of people wanting to dream and pray and work for transformation."

Presently, Roger's great delight is Phillip Benjamin, a grandson, born to Adam and Sherrie in Yarmouth, NS on June 2, 2007.

Rev. Mark Dail
Born and raised in New Jersey, Mark is now a dual citizen (USA & Canada). He became a Christian through the ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship while a student at The College of New Jersey where he recieved a B.A. in Music Education. After graduating, Mark worked as a music teacher and professional musician playing "Rock to Bach." He received his pastoral training (Master of Divinity) at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Mark then ministered with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship and was an Assistant Pastor of Youth and Christian Education before moving to Canada. He's served the Lord as Associate Pastor of Forest Hills Baptist Church from May 1983 until present where he works in pastoral, worship and music ministry. Mark is married to Sheila, who is a special needs resource teacher. They have three children: Chris (married to Amy and father to Peter), Sarah (living in Fredericton) and Liz (attending STU).

 

 

Julie Pugsley
Julie began attending Forest Hills Baptist Church when she was just two years old. She grew up in Saint John in the east side neighbourhood of Lakewood Heights and graduated from Simonds High School in 2000. She then went to UNBSJ to complete her Bachelor of Business Administration degree and later went on to complete a Bachelor of Education at UNB Fredericton. She recently became the Church Office Administrator at FHB in August 2009. Julie lives with her husband, Matt (a teacher in School District 6), and their very spoiled dog, Toby.  Julie and Matt were married in July 2007 and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first child, who should be making an appearance in May of 2010.

Charmagne Stevens
Charmagne Stevens graduated from Simonds High School in 1980. After graduation, she worked for eight years as a Bookkeeper with a group of Professional Accountants while earning a variety of business credits at UNBSJ. In 1988, Charmagne began an eighteen year career as a JCHAPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and Office Manager with a Saint John Ophthalmologist.   Since 2006, she has worked as the Pastor and Director of Living Waters Child Development Centre at Forest Hills Baptist Church. Charmagne resides in Quispamsis with her husband Rick Stevens who works as a Surveillance Technician at Bell Alaint.

 Charmagne said “I was not raised to be a follower of Christ. I was a thirty-seven year old women in a twelve year common law relationship when I began my Christian journey as a result of my time in pre-marriage counseling at Forest Hills Baptist Church. In May 2001 while on my knees, I gave my life over to God and then He immediately and thoroughly convinced me through Scripture that Christ was the only way to Him. God’s Holy Spirit put an instant impression on my heart that I would join Him in His Kingdom work with all my energy. In 2003, while still working full time in Ophthalmology and part time in various ministries at FHBC, I began my academic journey into leadership through the Atlantic Baptist Convention. In 2006, I received a Lay Pastor Diploma and in 2007 was welcomed as a Convention Recognized Lay Pastor with the title of Pastor. I have learned that a person with the gift of Pastor will express that gift differently based upon their God-given personality.   I am an Administrative Pastor with our Christian Day Care – Living Waters Child Development Centre. I have been blessed with the gifts of administration and operation and thus called as the administrative shepherd of this ministry. I feel called by God to empower others and delegate responsibility. I believe that God uses the situations we face each day to weave a pattern of godliness into our character. My day by day prayer is that God’s Holy Spirit helps me respond in a Christ like manner to the situations I find myself in each day.”

Randy Meger
Randy was born in Flin-Flon Manitoba and raised in Thompson Manitoba. His dad worked for Inco Mines and his mom looked after him and his 3 younger sisters. At 12 years old, they moved to Vancouver, BC where his father and mother managed 2 Mac's Milk convienence stores. They moved again 1 1/2 years later to Lynn Lake Manitoba where his dad returned to mining. A year later, they were off again, this time to Bathurst NB where his dad again went into mining. His mom also worked at this time at Shoppers. Their last move as a family came in 1976 when they arrived in Quispamsis, NB. His dad became manager of Rothesay Ave. McDonald's while his mom was head cashier at Co-op.

Randy graduated from Kennebecasis Valley High School in 1978. He had been, and continued after school to, work for McDonald's until 1979. For the next 10 years, he worked at 20 different jobs throughout New Brunswick, Manitoba, Ontario and Albert, finally settling down in Saint John in 1989. He worked at various places until 1998 when he started working midnight shift at Sobey's. This continued for 14 years.

Randy says, "I lived a pretty self-centered life seeking after my own pleasures any way I could find it. In April of 1998, with God's help, I became born again as they say. My mother and I started going to church together and, after moving into a house together, started new lives. We came to Forest Hills Baptist Church the first Sunday in our new home and have been coming ever since. We were both baptized in November 2000 and became members of this church in December 2000."

Since 2000, Randy has been actively involved with ministry in this church. He has been teaching Bible studies for children, adults and men for over 10 years now, as well as being a part of our church prayer line and Prayer Action Team. Doing these things has been excitng and very enjoyable for Randy. Doing the above also led him to the Lay Pastors course through the Convention. He graduated in 2007 and continues to serve whereever God draws him.

Randy left Sobeys after 14 years and accepted the job of custodian of this church in September of 2008. He looks forward to seeing what God will do next as we move into a new decade with great hope and expectation.

~ Phil 1:6 - being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.~ This is Randy's hope for himself and our church.
